In 1987 at the World Congress of Dermatology, Dr. D. Adachi discussed the mechanism of a hair growth compound which in scientific circles is called "G" Phosphate Dehydrogenase or PDG. he said,"When the anagen phase (growing cycle) slows down it enters the catagen phase (resting cycle). During this period there is a slowing down of the growth pattern until hair stops growing altogether and eventually falls out (telogen phase)". He went on to say that PDG could provide the energy necessary to shorten the Catagen and Telogen phases and at the same time prolong the Anagen phase. Dr. Adachi's comments provided the impetuous for hundreds of researchers to begin researching those substances which could switch hair follicles from the Catagen or Telogen phases, back into the Anagen phase. After evaluations of almost three hundred different substances researchers noted that "odd numbered fatty acids" caused a 350% increase in the energy level of hair follicles.
Dr. Hans Kugler, Scientist and author of "Slowing Down The Aging Process", and editor of the clinical journal "Preventive Medicine", discovered that Angelica Lactone an "odd numbered fatty acid" reduced dramatically the resting stage of the hair folicle by providing a chemical energy.

Dr. Kenkichi Oba of Japan
discovered another "odd numbered fatty acid" called
3-carbon compound of Pentadecanoic Acid Glyceride" which
also caused a dramatic increase in the energy level
of hair follicles.
Researchers have confirmed the results of the Dr. kugler and Dr. Oba discoveries
and those substances are now approved as a treatment for excessive hair loss
by the German and Japanese Governments.
Since 1990, there have been other discoveries which, like Angelica Lactone and
Pentadecanoic Acid, were found to increase the metabolism of the hair follicle.
They are: Swertia, Danggui Extract, and Tocopheryl Acetate.
Progress against baldness was pushed a bit further recently when scientists discovered "Saw Palmetto Berry (Serenoa Repens)". This extract was found to counteract the conversion of Testosterone to Dehydrotestosterone (DHT) by inhibiting DHT binding to cellular and nuclear receptor sites thereby increasing DHT breakdown.
In November of 1996 Hyaluronic Acid was added to the BIOPROTEIN medication to
improve its ability to penetrate deep into the subcattaneous scalp tissue. In
1998 Silica was also added to improve brilliance and elasticity to hair. |
